C. shortening
2 eggs
C. sugar
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
2 T. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 C. buttermilk
2 1/4 C. flour
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

In a medium bowl mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. In a separate small bowl mix the flour and salt. In another small bowl mix the food coloring,cocoa, and buttermilk.
Mix together the shortening mix and the flour and salt mixture. Add in the food coloring, cocoa,and buttermilk mixture. The last thing you do is mix the vinegar and soda. It will fizz but dump it in and mix it all together. It will be thick.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.
