Apple Oatmeal Bread Recipe

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
2 eggs
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. butter, melted and cooled
2 med. apples halved, cored and coarsely shredded (1 1/2c )

1. Preheat oven at 350. Lightly grease and flour a large loaf pan.

2. Sift first six ingredients in a large bowl. Stir in brown sugar, oatmeal and walnuts.

3. Mix eggs, milk and butter in a small bowl; add all at once to oatmeal mixture; add apples; stir lightly with fork just until liquid is absorbed and mixture is thoroughly moistened (do not overmix). Spoon into prepared baking pan.
Bake for 1 hr. cool in pan 10 min. Loosen edges with a knife; turn out onto rack. cool completely. Wrap, store overnight.
