2 eggs, separated
1 cup milk
1 cup granulated sugar
2 1/2 tsp flour
1/2 tbsp Crisco
1/2 cup nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks until thick, then add milk, 1/2 cup sugar and flour. Blend well and add Crisco. Cook over low flame until thickened, stirring constantly to keep from sticking.

pour other 1/2 cup sugar in cold frying pan and stir until it melts and begins to brown (caramelize). Fold into custard mixture and add nuts. Pour into 9" pie shell and bake at 350º for about 45 minutes.
