1/2 stick of margarine
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
4 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups oatmeal (quick oats or regular)
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Cream together margarine, oil, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, nuts and chips last. Bake at 350º in a large, deep, greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes and do not overbake!

Optional: You can add raisins and/or coconut if you desire. These are great for using food storage items and they taste great too.

My mom used to make these all the time as a family home evening treat for us. We all hated the name because they sounded like they wouldn't taste very good. I hope that you will give them a try and find out that wheat is wonderful and so good for us!
