1 stick butter
1 c. water
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 veg. oil
2 c. flour
2c. sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla

Frosting: 1 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/3 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
In a sauce pan bring 1 stick butter, water, 1/4 c. cocoa and 1/2 oil to a boil. Pour over 2 c. flour, 2 c. sugar and 1/2 tsp salt. Add 1/2 c. buttermilk, eggs, 1 tsp soda, vanilla. Mix and pour into a greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake 20 minutes at 400º.

To prepare frosting: Bring 1 stick of butter, 1/4 c. cocoa and 1/3 c. buttermilk to a boil. Add 3 1/2 c. powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla. Mix and add to cake straight from oven. Top with chopped nuts if desired.
