Ingredients:  
1 lb hamburger and onion
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 can beef consomme
¼ tsp thyme
1 bay leaf
3 c water (use more or less to fill up your pot)
6 tsp beef bouillon
½ c barley (more if you like it)
1 can/bottle tomato juice
Add vegetables (I use 2 small bags of Publix brand frozen vegetable soup mix. It has celery, okra, tomatoes, etc.)

Brown hamburger and onion; drain well. Add the remaining ingredients. Simmer on the stove 2 hours or until thickened and vegetables are soft. You can also put in a crockpot for approximately 6 hours.
