3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 T.. shredded orange peel*
1 egg
1/4 c. orange juice
1 1/4 c. milk
3 T.. salad oil

Directions:
* With vegetable parer, remove only very thin outer peel of large orange. With scissors or in blender, cut peel into tiny bits. Dried grated orange peel can be substituted.

Measure dry ingredients into large bowl; stir well to blend thoroughly. Mix in nuts and orange peel.

Grease two 8 1/2 X 4 1/2 inch pans.

With fork, beat egg, juice, milk and oil With spoon, stir into flour mixture just until blended. Pour into pans. Bake in preheated 350ºF oven about 45 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool bread in pans on wire rack 10 min.; remove from pans. Cool thoroughly before wrapping in foil or plastic wrap. Slice the next day.

Serve bread with softened cream cheese, orange marmalade, or honey-butter made by blending 1 T.. honey with 4 T.. softened butter or margarine.
