2 pounds lean ground beef
2 large onions
2 large green peppers
5 14 oz cans diced tomatoes
5 14 oz cans red kidney beans
1 t oregano
1 t cumin
1 t thyme
1 to 2 T chili powder, to taste
1 or 2 bay leaves

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat, chopped onion and chopped green peppers in a heavy skillet until meat is lightly browned and vegetables are tender. Add oregano, cumin and thyme. Transfer meat and vegetables to a large soup pot. Stir in tomatoes, beans, chili powder and bay leaf. Simmer 1 hour. Remove bay leaves before serving..
