1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt (I use less)
1 tsp. sugar
Scant 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. melted shortening or oil

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Combine buttermilk, egg and shortening; add to dry ingredients, beating until smooth.

Pour tablespoonful of batter into each section of a hot waffle iron; bake until brown.

Easy and delicious!
