3 egg whites (at room temperature)
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 250º. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add cream of tartar. Beat until slightly stiff (don't over beat). Slowly add sugar a little at a time. Beat until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla. Put waxed paper on cookie sheet. Drop mixture with spoon and create indention on top. Meringues should be approximately the size to fill the bottom of a small bowl. Bake 50 minutes at 250º.

These are wonderful with fresh strawberries or peaches. We eat these a lot in the summertime.
