2 cups yellow corn meal
1 T flour
1 T sugar
1 T soda
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg well beaten
Oil for deep frying

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Using about a heaping teaspoon for each, form into small cakes. Deep fry until brown turning several times during cooking. Do not pierce. Remove and drain on absorbent paper.
