1 stick butter or margarine (4 oz.)

1 c. sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk

4 c. (No. 2 can) fruit (cook's choice)
1/2 c. sugar

Directions:
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º. Place butter in a deep 2 1/2 quart baking dish and melt in preheating oven.

Mix remaining ingredients, except fruit and 1/2 cup sugar, into a smooth batter. Pour batter over melted butter, but do not stir. Place fruit over the batter.

Sprinkle with one-half cup sugar. Bake for 30 minutes.

Note: Batter will rise to the top through fruit. You may used canned fruit or fresh blueberries, sliced peaches or apples.
