Ingredients:
6 - 8 qts. popped popcorn
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup (can substitute molasses)
1/2 lb. butter
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Put popcorn in large baking dish. Mix in a saucepan: brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, cream of tartar and salt. Cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly to 260º on a candy thermometer.

Remove from heat and add baking soda, stirring constantly. Pour over popcorn, stirring constantly. (I like a large amount of popcorn and a very thin layer of caramel.) Bake at 200º for 1 hour. Remove from oven and stir often as it cools.
