1 c. sugar
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt

3 c. scalded milk

3 eggs yolks
1 tsp. vanilla

25 vanilla wafers (approximately)

4 bananas, sliced

MERINGUE:
3 egg whites
6 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:

Combine 1 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler. Add scalded milk and cook until slightly thickened, stirring constantly.

Beat egg yolks until thick. Gradually stir one-fourth of hot mixture into egg yolks. Add egg yolks to remaining mixture and cook two more minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Line baking dish with half of wafers and layer of sliced bananas. Top with half of pudding mixture. Repeat layers.

MERINGUE: Cover with meringue made with beaten eggs whites, 6 tablespoons sugar, vanilla and cream of tartar. Bake in 400 º oven until brown.
