1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. oats
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chocolate chips (or a 6 oz. pkg.)
1 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugars, and eggs, and cream well. Add flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Add oats, vanilla and chocolate chips. Bake at 350º for 10 to 15 minutes.
