1 cup sugar (scant)
3/4 cup shortening (12 tbsp)
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1 egg
2 tsp soda
4 tbsp dark molasses
2 cups flour

Directions:

Mix well. Roll in balls the size of walnuts, roll in sugar and bake on ungreased sheet at 350º. Makes about 3 dozen.
