1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 T. hot water
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in hot water
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups coconut
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
2 to 3 cups oatmeal
2 cups flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream sugars & shortening. Add beaten eggs, Add water & dry ingredients. Stir in vanilla, coconut, oatmeal & nuts. Mix well and drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 min. or bake at 375 degrees for 8 min.
