2 cups shortening
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
1 1/3 cups sugar
4 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla
5 cups flour (I use half wheat flour and half all-purpose)
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts (opt.)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars, add vanilla and eggs and beat very well. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and mix very well. Add nuts and chocolate chips and mix. If too stiff, add 4-8 tsp. water. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 min.
