Sauté- 2 green pepper- diced
Onions ("more")
Mushrooms
5 lbs meat ("cubes")

2 Large cans tomato puree
2 large cans whole tomatoes
2 large cans tomato paste
2 "plunks" cheese
1 large can water
3/4 C. red wine

SEASONINGS:
Sweet basil
Oregano
Paprika
Salt
Pepper

Sauté pepper,onions, meat and mushrooms
then put into large pot chop the whole tomatoes in the blender.
add the next group of ingredients.
Then to season"sprinkle on top (twice)" the seasonings. (Mom would sprinkle in the pot near the outside rim the ingredients and go around it twice. )
Simmer this for a couple of hours," no lid on pot."
"Do not use a metal spoon- makes it watery."

I'd put in some sugar
I don't know about the cheese and never remember the cubed meatmaybe when she used to grind it herself. Use lean hamburger meat.
