2 c boiling water
4 c. all bran cereal
2 c bran flakes
2 c. dates

2 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
4 eggs
1 Qt. buttermilk

5 cups flour
1 t. salt
5 1/2 t soda

Pour boiling water over brans & dates.
Set aside.

Hand mix in a large bowl.
Eggs,oil & sugar.
Add buttermilk & mix well.

Mix together with wire whisk;
5 c. flour
1 t. salt
5 1/2 t. baking soda

To creamed egg mixture add alternately :
Flour & bran mixtures until combined.
Do not over mix.

Bake @ 400 degrees 15-20 min.

* This recipe has been doubled . I always do so, as it keeps about 6 weeks in the refrigerator.
I actually prefer them cooked after the batter has been refrigerated.

(Note from Editor; This recipe was added three different times, plus Patty added hers which she changed a little. Obviously a very BIG family favorite! Most of us know this recipe as Reva's Refer Bran Muffins)

I got this recipe from my sister Reva many years ago & everyone loves them !

I made them for the missionaries when we lived in New Jersey . Elder Meyer tracked us down, after we had moved to Spokane, upon his return home in Maine just to get this recipe.
He once ate about a dozen & a half at one meal he
ate with us!
I bet he was regular the next day!
