3 tablespoons corn oil
1 large onion chopped
2 pounds ground beef
4 garlic cloves minced
1-tablespoon brown sugar
2-3 tablespoons chili powder
1-teaspoon ground cumin
1-teaspoon salt
1-teaspoon pepper
cup tomato paste
1-cup beer
2 cups tomato sauce
2 cups canned red kidney beans

Heat the oil in a deep saucepan and cook the onion until softened, about 5 minutes. Add beef and cook until browned, breaking up the meat with the side of the spoon.
Stir in the garlic, brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Add the tomato paste, beer, and tomato sauce. Stir to mix. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and cover and simmer 50 minutes.
Stir in the kidney beans and simmer 5 minutes longer uncovered.
