2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup butter or margarine
3/4 sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 8"x8"x2" pan.
Melt chocolate with butter over hot (not boiling) water. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt - set aside.
In a large bowl beat eggs and sugar till light color. Beat in chocolate mixture and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture and nuts. Spread evenly in prepared pan and bake 25-30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Cut in squares with a sharp knife.
