6 large firm, ripe tomatos
1 large green, yellow or red bell pepper
1 red onion
1 cucumber

DRESSING:
3/4 cup vinegar
1-1/2 tsp celery salt
1-1/2 tsp mustard seed
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
4-1/2 tsp granulated sugar
1/8 tsp red pepper
1/4 cup cold water

Directions:
Skin and cut each tomato into 4 to 8 parts. Slice bell pepper into strips. Slice red onion into rings.Place in bowl. Heat mixture of vinegar, seasonings, and water. Bring to boil and boil furiously for 1 minute. While hot pour over tomatoes, peppers and onions. Chill. Stir occasionally. Just before serving add a peeled and sliced cucumber. The tomatoes will keep for days in the refrigerator but fresh cucumbers would need to be added--they will get soft.

The tomatoes are very hot and are the "fire", while the cucumber is the "ice". Spicy and tangy. Makes a colorful Christmas salad.
