1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup coconut
1 cup gum drops (small ones and eliminate black ones)
2 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon vanilla
˝ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and add sugar gradually until thoroughly mixed. Add remaining ingredients and roll into ball making each ball the size of a walnut, then flatten with glass. Bake 10 minutes in 350 degree oven. Yield 90.
