Brown Sugar Ice Box Cookies Recipe

3 1/2 cups sifted flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup butter or margarine

2 cups packed brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

1. Sift flour and baking soda, set aside.

2. In a large bowl, beat butter until light. Gradually add sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Continue beating until light and fluffy.

3. Beat in half the flour mixture until smooth, then beat in the remainder, until smooth.

4. Mix with hands to form a stiff dough.

5. Add nuts, mixing to combiine well.

6. Turn out dough onto lightly floured surface.

7. Divide in thirds, 8 inches long.

8. Sliced into pieces about a 1/2 inch thick.

9. Place on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart

10. Bake at 375 for 7 - 10 minutes or until lightly brown, cool.
