Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
In large bowl, combine:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
In saucepan, combine and bring to boil:
1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 cup water
Pour hot mixture over flour mixture and stir well. Mix
together:
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla.
Mix well and pour into greased 11x17 inch pan. Bake 20 minutes in 400 degree oven.

Mix and bring to a boil:
1 stick butter or margarine
6 T.buttermilk
4 T. cocoa
Remove from heat and add:
1 lb. box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans, optional
Frost cake straight from the oven.

This was the cake Mom made when we were building the homecoming floats in our pole barn when I was in high school. She would make one or more cakes and carry them out while they were still warm. She was always amazed at how much cake my friends could eat!
