1 lb. ground beef
1 c onion, diced
1 qt. water
1 c celery, diced
1 c potaoes, diced
1 c carrots, cut into coiines
1/2 tsp. salt
1/ 4 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp basil
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 16oz can crused tomatoes
1/2 c quick cooking barley, cooked according to package directions

In a large soup kettle, brown the ground beef. Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes. Add the water and stir in celery, potatoes, carrots, salt and spices. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the cooked barley and cook for another 5 minutes.
