2/3 c margarine
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c cocoa
2 1/2 c barley flour
2/3 c rinsed, drained, and minced sauerkraut
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 c water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Add the rest of the ingredients EXCEPT sauerkraut. Stir in sauerkraut after well mixed. Pour into 9"X13" greased pan. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

Sounds funky, but it's great! Editor's Note: Jane and Shirley both make this cake. Shirley uses regular flour and adds icing made by creaming together 1 stick of margarine, 1 box powdered sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa.
