1/2 c. shortening
4 T. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
4 T. molasses
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Soften shortening and butter, add sugar a little at a time and cream. Add beaten egg and blend well. Add molasses and blend well. Sift dry ingredients together and mix. Chill if dough is too soft. Roll into balls about 1" diameter and roll in sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, bake about 15 minutes at 350ºF. Watch carefully.

An alternative to greasing the pan is to use parchment paper. Cookies won't stick and clean up is a breeze!
