2 qrts. milk, separated
2 C. sugar
4 eggs, lightly beaten
4 T. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pint cream
1 T. Vanilla

Directions:
Cook 1 qrt. milk and all other ingredients except vanilla for 20 minutes. Add vanilla. Heat another 1 qrt of milk and add to mixture. Cool and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.

This is written in Evalina's handwriting -- it would have been her paternal grandmother's recipe. As Evalina was born sometime in the early 1900s (1903 or 1905 I think), this recipe is probably from 1850s and probably earlier than that.
