Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 C. flour
1 C. butter or margarine, softened
3 Egg Yolks
2 T. vinegar
1/4 C water
10 oz. ground walnuts
1/2 C. sugar
1 - 3 tsp. cherry juice
1 large jar marachino cherries, chopped into small pieces
1 Angel food cake mix

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour and butter as for pie crust. In a small bowl, mix together 3 egg yolks, vinegar and water and then add to dry ingredients. Make into 4 uniform balls and wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate dough overnight (or at least 6 hours). Roll each dough into circle, as thin as possible.
Mix walnuts with sugar and enough cherry juice to hold it together. Mix cake mix as directed on box -- do NOT bake -- this is part of the filling. Spread cake mix on rolled out dough, sprinkle with cherries and nut mixture, roll up like a jelly roll and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 for 25 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar as they come out of oven

Wow, I didn't even realize I had this recipe, but glad I found it. Grandma Leeson always made this when we visited -- as I recall it is very sweet -- but very good -- probably fun to make it and "remember" it. Best part is, we now have her recipe for the strudel dough -- you could make any kind of strudel out of the basic dough.
