1/2 c. warm water (110-115 degrees), 1 1/2 c. milk (scald then cool to luke warm), 1/2 c. sugar, 2 eggs 7 - 7 1/2 c. flour, 2 pkg. dry yeast 2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. shortening

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening, and half of the flour. Mix with spoon until smooth. Add remaining flour tto handle easily, mix by hand. Turn onto lightly floured board, knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 min. Round up in a greased bowl, bring greased side up. Cover with damp cloth, let rise in a warm place (85) until double in bulk, about 30 min, Shape, let rise and bake at 375 for 15 - 20 min

I use this basic dough recipe for raised doughnuts and bismarcks. Shape let raise until double in bulk, drop into hot fat. 1 tsp. vinegar in fat helps dough resist grease retention
