1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. shortening, 2 eggs, 1/4 c. buttermilk, 1 1/4 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. soda, 1 c. milk, 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/4 c. corn meal

mix well, pour into greased pan. Bake at 350 for 30 min. or until golden brown.
