mix: 1 3/4 c. oatmeal,1 c. shortning, 1 tsp. soda, 1 3/4 c. flour, 1 c. brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
put 3/4 of above mixture in bottom of greased cake pan and pat down. (save 1/4 for top) Mix: 1/2 c. water, 1 pkg. precut dates, 1/2 c. sugar.
spread on bottom crust, sprinkle on remaining crust mixture, bake at 350 for 25- 30 min.
