1 C. butter
1 1/2 C. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 C. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter with mixer and add sugar gradually. Cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg. Stir in vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Add this gradually to the creamed mixtgure. *Chill in refrigerator overnight. Roll from 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch on well floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters. Sprinkle with red and green sugar and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 about 6 minutes -- until edges are brown. Cool slightly on cookie sheet and lift with a
spatula. Let them cool on a rack.
