1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 T. lemon flavoring
4 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1 T. rum flavoring
1/2 c. chopped cherries
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening and sugar, then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each is added. Blend in dry ingredients and add flavorings to buttermilk and mix alternately, mix well; add cherries and nuts. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour @ 350.
