1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
7 medium onions
3 cans (10 oz. each) condensed beef broth
3 whole peppercorns
1/2 c. red wine
8 slices French bread, toasted
8 T. parnesan cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Slice onions in a food processor. Melt butter in a large sauce pan over medium heat. Saute onions for about 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Add beef broth, water, and peppercorns. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add wine. Pour sour into oven proof bowls. Top with toast and parmesan cheese. Place uder broiler to brown cheese - can take up to ten minutes.
