4 c. potatoes, sliced and partially cooked
4 c. beef, cut into cubes
4 c. beef broth
salt and pepper, to taste
Dough:
3 c. flour
6 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
9 level T. shortening
1 1/4 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the beef in broth. Remove and cut off any fat from it. Cut the beef into small cubes. Bring the broth to a boil. To make the dough, sift together the dry ingredients. Add the shortening and combine with fingers until it resembles a coarse corn meal consistency. Add the milk and combine. Form a ball and roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into stips. Turn the broth down to a simmer. Layer in potatoes, meat and 1layer of dough. Continue layering, ending with the dough. Simmer until potatoes and dough are cooked. There will be a tasty gravy from the ingredients.
