2/3 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 1/2 c. puffed raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter with the brown sugar. Add the molasses, beaten eggs, and milk in which has been dissolved the baking soda. Sift the flour and mix with the baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves. Add the raisins to this dry mixture. Also add the walnuts, coarsely chopped. Combine these dry ingredients with the first mixture and bake in 2 or 3 layers in a moderate oven (375) for 25 minutes. Cover with your favorite icing.
