1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. water
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. walnuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Boil the raisins in the water and simmer for 15 minutes, reserve the juice. In a mixing bowl, cream the sugars and the shortening together. Add the eggs and mix well. In a seperate mixing bowl, combine the oatmeal, flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Add 8 T. of reserved raising water and combine well. Fold in the raisins and nuts. Drop by T. onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
