1 small box strawberry Jello
1 c. hot water
12 oz. Cool Whip, thawed
3-4 fresh strawberries (optional)

Directions:
Slice approximately 1/2-inch layer from top of cake, lay aside. Cut a trench inside cake approximately 1/2-inch from sides and 1-inch from bottom. Pull out cake pieces leaving the sides and bottom intact. Combine Jello with boiling water, stir until dissolved. Add frozen strawberries to Jello, stir until strawberries separate and Jello is partially set. Add cake pieces back to Jello mixture. Spoon mixture into cake. Replace top and frost cake with Cool Whip. Refrigerate several hours before serving. To garnish, slice fresh strawberries, leaving the crown intact, fan berries and place on top of cake. You can use any fruit and Jello flavor desired.

Personal Notes:
Jewel was making this when Randy and I were first married, about 38 years ago. It is still a family favorite.
