1 cup powdered sugar
2 cups unsifted flour
1 cup shortening or butter
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening, as you do for pie crust. Add beaten egg and vanilla. Form into little balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar, place on unfoiled cookie sheet and flatten with tumbler bottom dipped in sugar. Bake about 10-12 minutes in 375 oven until edges are golden. Makes about 3 dozen.
