2 c light brown sugar (2 lb box)
1 c oleo (2 sticks)
2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla
1 c chopped pecans

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and pour into ungreased 9x13 pan. Bake in a slow oven at 325 degrees. When it rises, bump the pan on the bottom, let it fall and continue baking until brown. Cool and cut into squares.

You may add chocolate chips or peanut butter chips. I have added candid pineapple and red and green cherries for a fruit cake.

Personal Notes:
I got this recipe in the early 1960's from Pearlie (Ma) Choate & Lorraine Chase. This has been an easy and simple favorite of my family ever since.
