10 slices of firm bread (remove crust) ½ stick soft butter 1 ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese 6 eggs ½ tsp. salt 1 lb. bulk sausage 2 cups half and half milk
Spread bread with butter, arrange in a greased 13 ½ x 9 Pyrex pan. Cook sausage in skillet until no longer pink. Drain and cool. Sprinkle sausage over bread slices. Add the cheddar cheese on top of the sausage. Beat eggs in a bowl. Add salt and milk. Pour over bread, sausage and cheese. Bake 350° for 40 min.
May be made ahead and refrigerated. This is a wonderful dish for brunch or luncheon.
