Filling: ¾ cup boiling water 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup molasses 1 egg
Crumbs: 2 cups flour 1 cup brown sugar ½ cup shortening
1 pastry for 1 pie
Preheat oven to 400°. Line pan with pastry. Sprinkle with a handful of crumbs over the bottom. Barely mix crumbs into the liquid filling. Pour into crust. Top with reserved crumbs. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes. Reduce heat to 375°, bake another 25 minutes.
