1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup of sugar
2 crushed cloves garlic
1/4 cup Sake or Mirin (Japanese cooking wine)
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
5 pounds chicken

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in container except for the chicken pieces. (Sherry can be substituted for the Sake or Mirin.) Pour over the chicken and marinate chicken for at least two hours or overnight. I recommend marinating the chicken overnight if possible.

Cook on the barbeque for best results. Can bake in a 350 oven for 1 hour.

This is a recipe my grandma and I would do when we would get together and cook for our family. We would serve this with white rice. Since we live in southern California, my family would always cook the chicken on the barbeque.
