1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbs. lemon juice
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
2 ripe bananas, mashed
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine shortening, sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, eggs, salt, milk and bananas; mix well. Add flour which has been mixed with baking powder and soda; add nuts if desired. Mix thoroughly. Grease and flour bread pans and fill approximately halfway with mixture. Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes in small loaf pans.
