3/4 c. butter (do not use margarine)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla (real vanilla extract, not flavoring)
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, baking powder and salt together and set aside. In a large bowl, cream together butter (softened), sugar and eggs. Add vanilla. Slowly add dry ingredients.

Form dough into ball. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 30 to 40 minutes.

Lightly flour surface. Roll out dough and cut into shapes. Preheat oven to 400. Bake cookies for 5 to 7 minutes. Bake just until bottom starts to brown ever so lightly. Remove promplty from oven and place on cooling racks.

Note it is important to not overbake. Because of high oven temperature, they will continue to bake for a couple of minutes after removing them from the oven.
