"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
1 lb. Box powdered sugar 1/3 c. (2/3 stick) of softened butter 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla
Beat butter until light, slowly add salt and sugar alternating with milk. Add vanilla. For thinner frosting add few drops of milk.
For chocolate frosting add 2 or three tablespoons of dry cocoa with powdered sugar when beating.
This recipe is on the back of C&H 1 lb. box of powdered sugar. It is not only great on cakes, it makes a good frosting on sugar cookies. Think pink for Valentine's Day....red & green sprinkles for Christmas...pale yellow or blue for Easter! Sometimes I use almond extract for a wonderful flavor instead of vanilla.
