1 c. Chopped walnuts

1 c. Vanilla wafer crumbs

1 c. firmly packed brown sugar

1 c. butter or margarine, melted

1 pkg. devils food cake mix without pudding

1 c. whipping cream

3 T. sifted powdered sugar

1 t. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine first 4 ingredients. Sprinkle about c. of walnut mixture in each of 4 ungreased 9-inch round cake pans, pressing lightly into pans.

2. Prepare cake mix according to package directions; put batter over walnut mixture in prepared pans. Bake at 350 for 1520 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove layers from pans immediately, and let cool completely.

3. Beat whipping cream until foamy; gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Stir in vanilla. Place 1 layer, nut sided up, on serving plate. Spread c. whipped cream over layer. Repeat with remaining 3 layers, ending with whipped cream over layer. Repeat with remaining 3 layers, ending with whipped cream; chill.
